An early photo

A picture from the late 1880s.  If you squint, you can make out the full, double front porch.  And you don't need to squint to see that it's the only house for hundreds of feet in any direction!

    So Exciting!! I think we should have an old-fashioned barn-raising. We could build that front porch in a weekend...

    Throw a rope over a tree and lift that thing up. What's the holdup, we need an update.
