Where have all the flowers gone...

Today Jeff's mother, Paulette, and I removed the majority of the older flowers that are in the path of the equipment that will excavate the foundation.  We took out two rosebushes, a number of tulip bulbs, two big peony bushes, and some hostas.  These are all flowers that have been blooming yearly since before I was born, and I am hoping that under Paulette's expert foster care, they will do well in their temporary homes until they can be replanted after construction ends.

We also finished clearing out the big items from the basement (Osc's workbenches, our elliptical, and our second refrigerator).  The old washer and dryer went out to the curb on Friday.  We had great help today from Jeff's parents and brothers, along with my mother too.  Alex continues to be fairly willing to show off his muscles by helping move things, although his favorite activities are those that involve whacking something with a sledgehammer.

The garage is nearly full.  We need to leave room for the furnace, water heater, and condensing fans, which our contractor will disconnect next week and store there.  Speaking of scheduling, we have a semi-firm date for Wolfe House Movers now:  it looks like they will be in town on June 3rd and are expected to be here 3 or 4 days.  I'm not sure of the exact schedule, but probably Monday they will get all the supports in, Tuesday they will excavate the old foundation, and maybe Wednesday they will do the rotation.  I will update this when I know more!

Now off to bed to rest my weary bones -- what a long work day!  Meanwhile, five more nights in our house....
